VA No. 4 on List of America's Top States for Business

Virginia has climbed three spots to No. 4 on CNBC's list of America's Top States for Business. CNBC scored all 50 states on more than 60 measures of competitiveness and then separated those metrics into 10 broad categories, weighted based on how frequently each is used as a selling point in economic development marketing materials.

The east coast had four states in the top 10: Virginia (No. 4), Georgia (No. 7), North Carolina (No. 9), and Florida (No. 10).  Virginia had top 10 scores in the categories of workforce, education, and business friendliness. The Commonwealth improved its rankings over 2017 in seven of the 10 categories: infrastructure, cost of doing business, economy, technology & innovation, education, business friendliness, and overall.
