Public K-12 Education

Frederick County and Winchester City each operate public school systems with a combined enrollment of more than 17,000 students. Career and Technical Education, Advanced Placement, the Starbase Academy, and the Mountain Vista Governor's School are just a few area's where youth can excel. 

Private Education

More than 20 private schools within a 20-mile radius of Frederick County offer choice when it comes to education. Randolph Macon Academy, Powhatan School, Grafton School, and Sacred Heart Academy, and a host of other private and parochial schools offer diverse learning environments.

Higher Education

Lord Fairfax Community College and Shenandoah University are located in Winchester-Frederick County. Old Dominion University is accessible via teletechnet at LFCC and satellite campuses of Virginia Tech and University of Virginia are located within an hour's drive. George MasonGeorge Washington, and James Madison are other popular choices in the region.
